How to Choose an IVF Clinic in China: A Verification Checklist

Verify the provider and acceptance conditions before comparing costs, communication and follow-up. Reputation, reviews or a headline success rate cannot alone establish suitability.

Identify the actual treating provider

Record the hospital’s official name, location, fertility department and contact channel. Separate the consultation business from the healthcare provider. Verify through official hospital and health authority channels rather than relying only on sales screenshots.

Confirm acceptance before travel

Explain nationalities, residence and proposed identity documents. Ask about acceptance, relationship documents, translation and first-visit requirements. An answer to an enquiry is not an acceptance confirmation.

Ask what outcome statistics measure

Ask whether data refers to clinical pregnancy or live birth, per cycle or transfer, and which age and treatment groups are represented. Different definitions are not directly comparable and clinic data does not guarantee an individual outcome.

Compare like for like

Obtain itemised written quotes covering currency, payee, exclusions and cancellation terms. Ask about language support, responsible clinicians, schedule changes and follow-up after returning home. Mark unanswered questions before deciding.

A first-enquiry template

“I live abroad and want to confirm acceptance and preparation. Which hospital and location would provide care? How are my documents verified? Can you provide the quote scope, record requirements and estimated visit schedule?” Keep dated replies and reconfirm before travel.

HFEA regulates UK clinics. Its guidance helps prepare questions and does not determine Chinese hospital acceptance. Verify Chinese authorisation and eligibility with the receiving hospital and health authorities.
